The memorial, which commemorates Mendelssohn’s work as Düsseldorf music director in the years 1833-35, was unveiled on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. by Mayor Dirk Elbers during a ceremony. The weight of the 2.60 meter high monument is around one ton. Alloy metal donated the bronze for the statue.
